Re: Sheriff presence on Leggett Valley School campus

Dear Leggett Valley School Families,

This morning, one of our students was exhibiting unsafe behavior that eventually escalated to a dangerous situation where community resources were needed.  A Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputy and other support providers responded to the school, talked with school staff, and the student’s parents to determine next steps for this child’s safety.  A familiar teacher and myself were with the student during the response to ensure everyone was safe and calm as we moved forward with the safety plan.

Our top priority at Leggett Valley School is the safety of our students.  If ever there were a threat on our campus to the safety of your child, you would be notified as soon as possible.  I am grateful for the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department and their partnership in keeping our students and community safe.

This is not the first letter I intended to send to you as your new Superintendent Principal, but I felt this was an important communication to get to you as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I am looking forward to getting to know you.

Sincerely,

Sierra Lahera

Superintendent, Principal
